Description
Jacob Smilovitz is a Principal at TCG. Prior to joining the firm, he served as the Vice President of Corporate Development and FP&A at The New York Times, where he focused on M&A, investments, and corporate strategy. In that role, he oversaw the company’s acquisitions of Audm, an audio-subscription app, Wirecutter, a product-review company, and two creative agencies: Fake Love and Hello Society. Jacob also managed the company’s early-stage minority investment portfolio, through which he led the company’s investments in Wonder, Shine and Holloway, among others. Prior to the Times, Jacob was a consultant at the Rosetta Consulting Group. He currently serves on the Board of Student Publications at the University of Michigan, and the board of directors of Hodinkee. Jacob was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 for media in 2018.
Jacob is a graduate of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a BA in Political Science.
